Garth Mountain Route 2

Follow the first steps as for Route 1.
Beyond the ruined barn you'll see a sharp turn onto a footpath to your right - leading directly up the hill.
It's a rough track, uneven and sometimes muddy and slippery.
Walk up to the rocky outcrop and admire the view
Then keep going up the next section of path (with handy footholds from centuries of use).
At the top, proceed a short distance until the route splits in two. Go right and descend the grassy slope. This section, below the stile, can be difficult - so take it slowly. In wet weather there may be thick mud near the bottom.
When you reach the wide path, turn right and walk back down to Gwaelod y Garth.

This ascent is tricky in parts - and can be muddy.

Take a sharp right turn here as you ascend Garth Mountain.

Enjoy the view over

the Taff Valley.
